Blog Elul: Prompt 28: Give

Give

Giving or Tzedakah os another tenant of Judaism. Most Jews learn the importance of giving and charity. To five our time, money resources and whatever we can to those less fortunate than us will look good in the eyes of g-d.

Maimonides talks about the eight levels of charity. It’s defined as each level being greater than the next. The eighth level is giving unwittingly. Besides our times, resources and money what do we give our ourselves…to our spouse, family children work/job, schools, neighborhood, community, temple?

Being able to devote and delineate time is important. To give in our life shows compassion, empathy and helping others throughout our lives and makes us all better people.
